My teammate Jeff Blankenburg will be hosting a Windows Phone Development Lab at Tulsa TechFest on Saturday, Oct 8th from 8am-5pm at OSU Tulsa.

The Windows Phone lab is a combination Instructor-Led and Self-Directed lab environment that is designed to help you learn about Windows Phone by building applications instead of just listening to sessions. This hands-on approach has been very successful in building technical chops for those that attend and we’re excited about bringing this lab to Tulsa TechFest. Also on hand will be several Windows Phone experts to help you navigate the labs as well as discuss any ideas for applications you might have, or consult with you on ways to get past any roadblocks you’ve encountered in your own Windows Phone development.

The agenda for the day for the day looks like this:

Starting today – the 4th Annual Dallas TechFest has opened it’s call for speakers!  If you’re interested in speaking, please visit the web site at http://dallastechfest.com and register as a speaker.  

To register all you have to do is:

• open http://dallastechfest.com
• click on the [Log In] link at the top
• On the signin page, click the "register" link
• fill out your profile information,
• click the link to create a speaker profile.

It's a bit of a pathway through the app to get there, but once you're in it's actually a really nice way to manage your speaker bio and session submissions.  There's going to be a pretty high bar again this year for speakers, so make sure you polish up your session abstracts!

Coming to the Center for Non-Profits @ St. Mary’s, for the second year in a row, is the fabulous Northwest Arkansas TechFest!

For those new to TechFest, it is a technical conference with a primary focus to provide training/teaching sessions that are immediately beneficial to the broadest range of IT professionals in their day-to-day jobs. They accomplish this with numerous national and international speakers delivering 75 minute sessions across 10 separate tracks. Even though TechFest is a free event, the organizers ask that you support the community and PLEASE bring TWO CANS or TWO BUCKS. All canned food will be donated to the NWA Food Bank and all proceeds will be donated to the The Jones Center.

NWA TechFest is organized again this year by former MVP, current Microsoft Employee and founder of Tulsa TechFest David Walker. The event is always outstanding with amazing content from the areas best speakers. I’ll be there too, presenting in the Silverlight track on Windows Phone 7 Performance Tips and SketchFlow.

For those of you that attended my talk at TechReady 11 or at Dallas TechFest 2010, here is the sample application I built along with my code snippets and my demo script.  I’ll be working on a Hands-on-Lab version of this talk, as well as producing a video the talk, but that will have to come later.  Keep tabs on this post as I’ll be updating it with these new bits as soon as I get them developed.

Tulsa TechFest is one of the premier cross-platform, cross-discipline conferences in South Central.  Over the past 2 years, we�ve hit over 1000 attendees per event, and are looking to really make a big splash again this year.  Following the trend from last year, registration will be �two cans or two bucks�.  Food collected will be donated to the Community FoodBank of Eastern Oklahoma, and all money will be donated to the Family & Children�s Services.
